Linux server operating system requirements



Ensure that your Linux environment meets the requirements to install MILS.
Follow these procedures to prepare a Linux server for the installation of Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance.
Checking the Java version on Linux
The MILS installer requires Java version 1.6 or later to be installed on the system.
Setting up the MILS server on Linux
Set up the storage that is used by MILS. Mirror the storage if possible.

Set up network storage for Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance (MILS).
Adding data redundancy on a Linux server
If your hardware supports redundancy, enable redundant paths for data flow on all IBM® Intelligent Video Analytics machines, in case of failure.
Creating the file system on Linux
After you install the Linux operating system, you must prepare the file system before you install the Intelligent Video Analytics software. If you require video metadata to be stored outside the root file system, you must create more file systems as detailed in the following procedure. These file systems are recommended for production installations.
